17.Red Robin
Yes, I know its not BBQ, but we were kinda burned out by the flight home. Had a layover by DFW so Brad picked us up and we went out for 1 last meal.
We see TV ads for these and there’s not one in Tampa so we were looking forward to it. I had eaten at RR in Cincy, but this really wasn’t that good of a burger. Cheap white bread and sparse bacon ruined my Bacon Cheeseburger.
Here’s what the menu says:
We claim this to be the best bacon cheeseburger in the city, state, nation and all the world! It is garnished in abundance with three thick slices of sizzling, hickory-smoked bacon, crisp lettuce, fresh tomatoes & mayo. You choose your favorite cheese: Cheddar, American, Swiss, Monterey Jack, Bleu, Provolone or Pepper-Jack.
OK, now I know they talk through their hat. Cause that burger was crap.
Thick slices my butt. I don’t even remember lettuce & tomato.
But we were so burned out from critiquing restaurants that when I held my sandwich and said something to Cyndi, she said “I don’t want to hear it - I want to eat in peace”. So I just munched it down and moved onto the Banzai, which at least had flavor from the pineapple.
Cyndi later commented somewhere along the route that at least she now knew that she never needed to eat at a RR again.
